National Council for Science & Technology
The National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) was set up in 1977 under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance and Planning mainly to co-ordinate local activities in science and technology.

Business Development Unit
The functions of the Business Development Unit are to:
develop a legislative framework for small and medium sized enterprises, undertake and organise projects aimed at providing international SME competitiveness in order to enable small businesses to develop coping mechanisms to deal with globalisation, organize education and training sessions, and design and implement policies, strategies and plans for business development.

Barbados National Standards Institution
The Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) was established in 1973 as a joint venture between the Government of Barbados and the private sector under the Companies Act. It is located at "Flodden", Culloden Road, St. Michael and consists of administrative offices and a laboratory complex housing metrology, textile, engineering and chemistry/microbiology laboratories.
